FORT PARK
Fort Park was a project done in early 2020 with Ben Mason, and the brief was to design houses / apartments to replace carparks in Central Auckland, specifically on Fort Street. The carpark located here is known as the most expensive carpark in the entirety of Auckland, and is one of the most convenient spots for people to get to work.
With the increasing loads of traffic on Auckland motorways, the idea behind the project was to come up with a concept where you could ditch the car, and have a tiny house in a convenient location. Living in one of these units means you can simply lock up and leave for work with no worries. The close knit community it creates allows security between neighbours and the ability to feel safe living here. We decided that we did not only want to have units for living here, but also incorporate a park and bring some greenery into the CBD.
In renders below you will see the way we have designed the tiny houses to maximise the use of space. Each unit has 2 balcony spaces made possible by twisting the orientation of the 6x3m container style stories. You will also see the way a park has been incorporated into the project, and the way this changes the development during different times of the year as well.
